No New Year's Resolutions, Please, NONE!

As I am sitting here writing and thinking about all of the New Year's Resolution that have missed the mark in my life, I have decided not to make not ONE more New Year's Resolution.  By March, I would not have accomplished not one of them, nor did I even try.  New Year's Resolutions put you on the track for failure and NO, NO, NO, I will not do that!  Not this Year!

I'm taking it one day at a time and telling the UNIVERSE this is what I have in mind for my life in the NEW YEAR!  Yes, you do have to reach out to the Universe and make your feelings known so that your words will not return to you void!  So many times, I made resolutions but did not speak them into existence.

I speak my spiritual truths so that they can manifest instead of looking at a whole boatload of New Year's Resolutions.

As I begin this new year (it is the January 4th), I feel I have so much to offer the world and that is what I am going to do!  I once heard that the rent that you pay for being here on earth is your service to others--how can I serve others within this universe?  As I stated, I am taking it one day at a time and during this time I can hear a small voice telling me and directing me on my path to service.  As I serve others, I know that I will be blessed as well...that's what HAPPENS!  It's not about circumstance, it is about the voice of manifestation and victory.

I don't want to have the GRASSHOPPER effect...looking at the giants in the new land and feeling like I am a grasshopper!  No, No, No--:I am the giant ready to SLAY at any time, any place, and any where in order for my truths to become a reality.  I don't want my talents to be caged and imprisoned within me.  No, No, No!

Speak what you want into existence--there is power in the word!  No more New Year's Resolution, just powerful words that will not return to you void!

Always remember, Success is your Destiny as long as you

FOR MY BIRTHDAY I WANT...

September is my birth month.  September now represents the ninth month.  Nine symbolizes divine completeness, wisdom, selflessness, and service to humanity.  Yes, September is a great month!

Here's what I want for my birthday -

or My Birthday I want...

Each year, for my birthday, I ask from family, friends, associates to celebrate my birthday with me in the month of September by sharing with me...
Sept. 1–  September is the birthing month. Stop and release birth to all of you creative ideas (i.e. that new book, starting school, finishing school…birth it right now)

Sept. 2 - Start your day by drinking a healthy smoothie, it will go a long way today because you will need to exercise your mind, your heart and your body by giving a helping hand, extending a smile, lifting up someone that is down and out, and holding positive thoughts today

Sept. 3 – Send a big hello to someone, do not just smile at them, SAY HELLO!

Sept. 4- If at first you don’t succeed…it probably was too easy! Try something harder—use your EAGLE spirit and soar! Don’t get to buzzard level—never!

Sept. 5- Lose some weight! Slim down! Here’s the first step…lose the stress! Don’t major in the minor stuff! Getting rid of stress can immediately drop you down to Size 0.

Sept. 6 –  Remember everything begins with a thought—today, think big and wonderful thoughts.

Sept. 7- Fight like a girl today….and give to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

 Sept.8 –
A day of counting all of your blessing!--count them one by one!

Sept. 9 – Donate a small book scholarship to a deserving high school senior at your local community high school. Scholarships can be $25.00, or pool your resources with a group of your favorite pals and make it $100.00.

 Sept 10 –
Go by your local elementary school and give some books away –send them to a particular classroom. If your money is low, go by GOODWILL they have 5-10 books in packages (that are in great condition) for as low as $1.00 for the entire packet of books.

Sept. 11 –  Nourish yourself with love today as the universe nourishes you!

Sept. 12 –  Live today with intention and purpose! Grow your soul through the lessons that you have learned.
Sept. 13 –  Judge not…not today! Everyone has something going on in their life…it just may not be what you are going through….but don’t judge!

 Sept. 14 –
Stop searching for answers that are unanswerable…and just live!

Sept. 15 –  Look for a meaningful glimpse of the spiritual good side of someone today!

Sept. 16 – Peace be still…mediate on things that are lovely, truthful and of good report, so that you can get ready for tomorrow!

Sept 17 – (It’s My Birthday) (It’s my Birthday) Mecum Carpe Diem!! Compliment someone day! --Give up your normal lunch, movie or outing today and GIVE! Pay it forward today! (donate a computer to an underprivileged school—new or slightly used is okay, I can give you the address to a few of them that need your help) AND DON’T FORGET TO PARTY WITH ME! Let’s get this Party started! Dance as if nobody watching! Use your air guitar “Jimi Hendrix style (you mean you don’t know who he is??) Play your “pretend Sax” like Kenny G then! Sing as if no one is listening…make a joyful noise if that’s all you can do! JUST PARTY! Have a Fabulous and fun-filled Friday! NAMASTE!

CRT, The Pandemic, and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

Why in the world would I want to include the Pandemic with CRT and DEI?  Seemingly, since the pandemic, DE&I as well as CRT has been on the rise.  People want to find out about CRT. To an extent, the term “critical race theory” is now cited as the basis of all diversity and inclusion efforts regardless of how much it’s actually informed those programs.

Organizations want to make sure their teams are well trained in the area of DE&I. But, what about CRT?

Moving right along, did the pandemic scare organizations and people in general that they need to wake up, make up and get this world straight?  I'm not so sure.

Here again, I am discussing a topic such as CRT that I am not well versed in at this time.  DE&I is a given for me however.  I have trained on this topic for years.  AND, I love it!  Knowing the difference between DE& I, is that Diversity is inviting individuals to the dance, Equity is making sure everyone has a decent pair of shoes to dance in, and Inclusion making sure they dance.

Critical Race Theory (CRT) is just that a theory to me--discussing among other things systemic racism.  I've heard that CRT puts an emphasis on outcomes, not merely on individuals’ own beliefs.  Not sure if this is really true or not either.

As I train on DE & I and think about the pandemic and how this topic still matters.  This topic is high on any CEOs agenda since economic pressures may make it harder for businesses to maintain their focus on and investment in DE& I, but not so much within the CRT arena.

Skipping around a little, the pandemic has been quite a challenge even more so than the global financial crisis.  The lock-downs, lack clarity about when and how the crisis will end contribute to increased anxiety and uncertainty for management teams and employees alike. Furthermore, the pandemic’s burdens have fallen unevenly.  This is an offshoot of sorts of the CRT called Public Health Critical Race Praxis (PHCRP), that originated in the field of law, which was developed for the purposes of conducting anti-racism health equity research.  Yes, for sure, I can make more sense of CRT now.

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion? Conducting of anti-racism health equity research?  The pandemic?  I can see clearly now!  After reading articles, listening to MSNBC, CNN and other channels and knowing that most folk that lack healthcare and are not seen at the hospitals and ERs as much, are people of color; this is a certainty.  Is this CRT?  Yes, possibly!  Is it part of the highlights of the pandemic?  For sure!  Can this be marked within the lines of DE & I?  Most definitely!

But, here's what I know for sure -- People—white or nonwhite—who don’t intend to be racist can nevertheless make choices that fuel racism.

September is my birth month, and every September I tell people what I want for my birthday.  Here's what I want for my birthday--it's for YOU and YOU, and YOU to be the Change in order to bridge the gap between all nationalities.  Can you give me that present for my birthday??

Miracle From Heaven

Just finished watching the movie MIRACLES FROM HEAVEN.  What a great movie to watch during this Thanksgiving holiday!  Did it bring tears to my eyes?  Yes, yes and yes!  After watching this movie, I wanted to immediately get up and ask others --- Have you ever had a Miracle from Heaven?  I have, and here's my story:

Had a really rough pregnancy once upon a time.  I had to be put on bed rest.  During this time, while going to visit my doctor for my monthly visit, I fell down a flight of stairs --- all the way to the bottom of the stairs. After being rushed to the hospital I was told(my baby (hat I had so hoped for after trying several times) would come three months early.  Not good!  The doctor came in to tell us that she had a 50/50 chance of surviving and that she would probably have brain damage.  What an awful thing to say to a patient I thought (all the time saying the 23rd Psalm in my mind).  The neonatologist was summoned about ten minutes later to tell me that my baby would come early but that everything looked great. He went on to say she would be a little small - around four (4) pounds! The 23rd Psalm raced back in my mind again!  Thank you God I said to myself.
Yes, she is here now and her name is Faith (My Miracle from Heaven).

Have you had a miracle from Heaven?  What is your miracle?

Poised for Self Leadership First!

Most people think of leadership in the corporate capacity.  However, leadership starts with self-leadership.  There are so many folks that are leading others, and cannot REALLY lead themselves! They do not know how, which is sometimes why many business fail.  Wow, what a revelation!

Ask yourself these questions
 - Who am I?
 - What can I do?
 - What can I do well?
 - Am I living my purpose?

Self leadership has been defined in several ways, however, I like this one:  "Influencing oneself to be the best they can be and achieving and obtaining your goals.

Self-leadership is the foundation for Leadership Development...intentionally!

Here are a few Self-Leadership Nuggets:

1. Focus on a worthwhile business or personal goal
You have to have some direction or goal, otherwise you going nowhere FAST!

2. Find your Voice
Sometimes this is hard to do; do not keep silent if you feel you have something worthwhile to say
or add to the BIGGER picture.  Speak your truth, and be authentic!

3. Be resilient - otherwise defeat can rear its ugly head, and can do it quickly.  Bounce back!

4. Finally, LIVE OUT LOUD and ON PURPOSE
You only have one life to live--Live it loving yourself first so that you can love others!  Have
fun.  Make that DASH in the middle of your life come ALIVE!

Remember, Success Is Your Destiny!

Changing Your Mind...??

Just thinking about something I really love doing...writing!   I love writing so much that I would do it for free for an organization.  I really do!  This is my passion!

Why, then am I writing a BLOG on Changing Your Mind?  Here's the thing...I did CHANGE MY MIND.  At first I thought I was changing it because of someone else's comment.  I have written several screenplays and asked a trusted friend to review it.  NOTICE I SAID THE WORD WRITING...right?  They came back with some very constructive criticism.  Loving constructive criticism  But, who loves criticism, even if it is constructive and loving?  I thought I was okay with CC, but I changed my mind this time.  It JUST wasn't what I wanted to hear.  I wanted this person to RANT AND RAVE over my writing!  I wanted them to SHOUT out to the world, YOU ROCK!  YOU GO GIRL!  Didn't happen...just didn't happen!  My bubble and balloon(s) BURST.  Both Bubble and Balloons had water in them and spilled all over me! Whew!

After taking it all in, I realized, I needed to change directions, and I did change my mind!  This person was the reader of my screenplay...the possible person that might go see the show if and when GOD blesses me and releases this screenplay to (uuummm) maybe Tyler Perry.  Hope you read this Tyler (Mr. T.P).  Sometimes changing your mind can elevate you to a path of greatness...I know that is what I am trying to pursue - Greatness!  Greatness in my writing.  Greatness comes with mistakes and constructive criticism.  AND, changing your mind even when you think that you are right!

2017 - My Turn

I have heard the term, it may not be my time, but it is my turn.  With all the madness that has been happening this year, good things are still happening.  I do not despair about the uncontrollable ...I simply recite to myself the SERENITY prayer.  I sometimes add my own verses to this prayer to make it specific to my needs and desires.

Yes, I feel it is my turn, and it is NOW!  So much goodness has appeared in my life recently.  I felt that it appeared magically because it seemed to have appeared so fast.  But wait, haven't I been pounding the streets, talking to folks everywhere, and NETWORKING my "blessed assurance" off!  It is quite true, FAITH without WORKS is dead!  So, yes, I have been working as well as having faith too-the faith of a mustard seed.  IT IS MY TURN because of my persistence and determination.  As I close, I remember a quote from Colin Powell who I admire immensely:  A dream doesn't become a reality through magic, it takes great determination and hard work!

The Importance of Finding and Keeping a Job you Love

There are so many articles and books about “Loving Your Job” and" Finding the Right Job".  I once asked a student, “What is it that you love so much that you would do for free”?  He thought about it for several seconds, and then replied, “if I tell you that I would be broke, wouldn’t I?   My response was, “only if you decide that you would be”.

Finding enjoyment in your work is very valuable, and would certainly increase your probability of becoming financially stable.  Some may say, will I be forever seeking that perfect job if I am to find fulfillment?.  Others may express that this will lead to total frustration.  Not really!  There is a small minority that will seek out work that they are passionate about that really supports their lifestyle.  However, even if the perfect job is not there, it is the way that you approach the job and its challenges.  According to writer, Kerry Harmon, “people worry too much about whether they have the skills needed to take on a loftier role, and they fret about failing”.  Is this you?

I once took a job because I thought I could make a difference, and I would be doing something I loved. Looking back, this job literally made me sick.  I would walk in the door at 8:00 am, and by 8:15 I would have the worse headache in the world.  During the day, I would get what felt like, ‘pins and needles’ in my head.  However, at the end of the day, whether it was 5:00 pm or beyond, the headache would immediately disappear. The job was making me sick! BUT, I needed to work and assist with supporting my family.    Unfortunately, I was underpaid and not appreciated.  However, if I had taken another approach, the job might have taken another turn.

Taking positive approaches in finding and keeping a job that you love will allow you to discover who you are.  Some of these small irritants that I encountered could have made “life on the job” less taxing if they were approached differently.  Here is what I have learned:  Know that your job and the people on the job do not define you; patting yourself on the back anyway can make all the difference; you have to plan small segments of time for yourself—even on the job; celebrate your success (with others that appreciate you or alone, but celebrate).

Please know that I am not encouraging anyone to stay in a job wherein they are totally miserable, or leaving when they have families that need their support.  In essence, life is too short to spend time ‘bickering with your spirit’ in trying to find a place in the sun. Find Out Who You Are and Do It On Purpose!

Here is something to think about:
The one thing that you have that no one else has is you: Your voice, your mind, your story, your vision.  So write, and draw and build, and play and dance, and live only as you can!

Remember, Success Is Your Destiny!

Star Thrower: Making a Difference

I recently saw a documentary entitled “Start Throwers”.  I went on to read a few excerpts from the Loren Eiseley story with the same name.   Star throwers are individuals who make a difference one life at a time.  Sometimes the difference is reading a story to a  young child, or visiting the sick, or maybe building a person’s self esteem.
I have had the opportunity to be a part of a Star Thrower, who just happens to be a young woman of the ripe old age of 19.  Morgan has truly been a star thrower ever since she was in the 5th grade.  How do I know this? I was her 5th grade teacher.  AND, yes, I am smarter than a 5th grader.   Morgan is always listening, coaching, telling others how awesome they are.  She likes to build up others’ self esteem.
Recently, I heard that Morgan had been assisting two females.  She has taken one of them to an aquatics center and just “hung out” with her.  She talks to her about friendship, family and anything else this little girl wants to discuss.  This little one had been bullied at school, and needed some inspiration to go on.  Morgan’s next new friend is a 16 year old, that is academically awesome, however socially inept.  Ms. Morgan rose to the occasion to just listen and allow some of her own stories of success,—surface, and take her to the movies.  I too want to make a difference for Morgan, which is why I have set up a GOFUNDME account for her.  Yes, I have.  Morgan has been doing all of this without any financial support.  Please help me to help Morgan.  Thanks for sharing and your support.  Go to: http://www.gofundme.com/wq4d5u9h

ASK FOR WHAT YOU WANT…ASK FOR YOUR VISION!

For years I’ve envisioned myself as an international talk-show host; speaking to individuals all around the world on the issues of life and current trends. Recently, I’ve given much thought to this vision that has lain dormant in my inner being for years, and concluded that I do possess the ability to not only own such title, but to also operate in that profession in the spirit of excellence. Upon reaching this conclusion, I decided that there is no better time than now to pursue this life-long dream of mine. I have taken a leap of FAITH, stepped out-of-the-box, and initiated contact with the producers a nationally syndicated talk show, to request that I be given an opportunity for a reoccurring or occasional appearance on the show as a host. I am not a nationally known celebrity, but I am definitely a celebrity within my own realm. I’ve actually hosted radio talk shows on a regular occasion. I’ve also inspired and empowered others to pursue their passions and dreams.

I know that this may sound far-fetched to many reading this article, but I hold fast to my position that “we have not because we ask not” and “the sky is literally the limit”. Who determines our destiny, other than the almighty God? We often limit ourselves when we operate in fear, and let fear hinder our pursuit of limitless possibilities. Many of us, now and in times past, have let fear of the unknown cage us in and ultimately give up on our dreams. Sometimes we can miss our window of opportunity by incubating a vision or dream for too long; trying to decide when is the right time to pursue it. I believe the answer is simple - the right time is NOW. This is the season for me and any other desiring to pursue a vision, to step out and pursue that dream, vision, or purpose that has been lying dormant in our inner subconscious; waiting for the opportune time to come forth, and shine bright like a star. We are all celebrities and stars in God’s eyes, and we only have one life opportunity to make our contribution to the world.

Every second counts, and I challenge each individual who reads this article to join me in pursing vision. Let’s not delay another day. We must chart our path and make it happen. There is so much potential in each of us, and we must maximize that potential. If ever – The Time Is NOW……

My vision ---You can look for me in the headlines – Dr. Sandra Moaney-Wright (Talk-show host). When I appear, you will recall this conversation we had. See you at the top!!!!!

SOBBING AND IN DISTRESS

One of my linked in friends recently wrote that he felt like a failure even though he just recently obtained a Masters Degree. He wrote that he was cleaning bathrooms and wiping up #@$% that people put out. I thought about his words for a second or...morejust recently obtained a Masters Degree.  He wrote that he was cleaning bathrooms and wiping up #@$% that people put out.  I thought about his words for a second or two and I commented on those words:
1.  Stop the pity party, sob if you may, put your faith into actions
2. You have a skill (cleaning)--while you sobbing get a business license and CLEAN for yourself  in your own business venture while waiting on the great job.
3.  Use LINKED IN, not just as a social site, but get to know some of your LINKED IN partners.  Send them inmails,  So many people get on LINKED IN and do nothing with it.
4. After you get that great job or your business takes off, Write that BOOK and give your testimony
5. Have a great day and a prosperous forever

Going in the Wrong Direction

Someone gave me an analogy of “split ends” on a person’s hair.  In order to have healthy looking hair you have to cut off the split ends.  And, then I remember a sermon that was recently given my pastor about Going in the Wrong Direction.  One of the things that he mentioned was that we need to stop resuscitating what God has killed in our lives because it will evidentially take us in the WRONG DIRECTION.  Well, how would one tie these things together?  A woman has to “kill the ends of her hair” to make it healthier and more vibrant looking….God kills or stops things in your life that will not make you grow and prosper and become vibrant.  Do you still have “split ends” in your life?  Are you trying to resuscitate things that you should have funeralized?  If so, you are GOING IN THE WRONG DIRECTION.  You have to be careful who you follow and allow into your space (as find your direction and purpose).  The enemy wants you to go into the wrong direction and question your identity.   Ask yourself, is there anything about ME that will stifle ME from getting to the next level or allow me to go in the WRONG DIRECTION.  Cut it off…kill it!  Find out who you are and do it on purpose.  F.O.C.U.S. and remember Success is Your Destiny!

Keeping your Promises to Your Customers

Recently, a telephone customer service representative told me that he would call me back with information that I requested  He asked for a 24-hour window to get the information back to me.  Additionally, he stated that he would respond either by email or call me.  At the time of the conversation, I was about to drop my telephone service--I had had enough!  Poor customer service, I thought.  How realized I had been transferred to so many people that didn't know anything!  This was the last straw!  However, within a four hour time frame, this person had not only gotten back with me (via telephone and email) but also offered tips to make things run smoother for me if the incident occurred again.  WOW!  What a relief!  My faith was restored!  This simple gesture astounded me--why?  Because customer service seems to be a thing of the past!  This helped this company save another customer by just being timely and polite! And to think, I will tell others about this experience.

Gestures such as these should teach companies that:  1. the competition is stiff, and you should alway maintain and edge over them; 2. instanteous technological communication is just a click away..use it; 3. customers that have been frayed, worn and torn will take their $$$ elsewhere in a heartbeat so make sure that you offer assistance, keep your promises, or offer a viable solution.

This Majestic Sky...

Earlier this evening, while standing out on my front deck, my husband asked me a simple question.  The question was what or who really impresses you.  He talked about all of the people who had really impressed him.  Many of them were rich, powerful famous people, and some of his special family members.  However, as I pondered this question that he asked, something so very profound came upon.  It entered so vividly in my thoughts!  I looked up into the beautiful sky that sat so majestic and hovered over a world so far below.  That’s what impresses me I told him.  As I looked at the cloud that hovered way above the sky so the sunlight could shine in…that is what impresses me.  The thought of a tree being so high, and yet having started from small beginnings, the beginnings was a small seed.  This seed has been mixed with dirt deep below and rain from the sky to develop into a wonderful, gorgeous sight.  This is what impresses me; the thought of God just making it happen.  The thought that God could take his paintbrush palette and draw this earth—Wow!  This is what impresses me.  The sunset mixed with hues of red.  The sunrise—loving it as it scampers in.  This is what impresses me.  Yes, there are people that are great, but nothing can “touch” feeling of this blue, awesome majestic sky.

Who's on Your Bus?

I remember thinking who would I have to really tell me the truth when things get tough?  Who do I have in my life that would go out of their way to make sure I have all the things that I need to succeed?  Who do I have in my life that I can tell my deepest thoughts to concerning my purpose in life…and not feel they would step on those thoughts?  Then, I thought about having my own bus.  I certainly would be the driver…who would be my alternative driver?

I remember hearing someone say what about a relationship coordinator being on the bus with you, someone that you really love and think the world of?  But, is this person the right person to coordinate this event…after all this person has been in and out of relationship, and married four times?  However, you think the world of this person, but maybe this person needs to take another role in your life, and sit in another seat on the bus.  Well, what about the person that champions my thoughts about what I want to do in my life.  My cheerleader!  Well, why not Rita..ummmm!  Rita is sweet, but her voice is so low, and she is indeed afraid to make steps toward her own success.  She’s a great writer, but has never done or talk to someone about putting that book to print!  Well, ummm…we have got to move her to another position on the bus.  Maybe, Rita can proofread your poetry and give you feedback.  Yes, that’s a good job for Rita.  Next on the bus is the Change Agent.  Yup, the Change Agent!  Let me think for a moment, this person (the person that you have as your CHANGE AGENT) doesn’t even want the SEASONS to change, let alone know anything about being a change agent.  However, this person talks really loud, and can network his BUTT off.  Yup, I think, I can make this person into CHAMPIONING my dreams, my cheerleader!   Finally, my pastor recently said you have to have a PRAYER on your side, but not a PREYER.  This praying preyer might just take your dreams and make them into their reality.  Keep them close, but not praying for you.

As you can see, rearrangement is necessary on your BUS to success!  Sometimes, you might have to put someone off the bus, and allow them to rent their own bus!  But remember, it is up to you to design, develop, add some more creative touches on your bus---inside and out!  Take care,  F.O.C.U.S and remember SUCCESS IS YOUR DESTINY!

Stop Trying to Discover new Land with Old Maps

After listening attentively this morning in church this morning, I thought about the topic above.  Many times on the road to success, we have old maps, old directions, and old advice.  While this may be beneficial at times, and some of the information might assist…what happens when the new land has been built in the opposite direction?  Change happens…and it happens for a reason.  Sometimes change is positive, sometimes not so positive.  However, either way we much accept it, direct it and move on.  We must find or discover that new map!  As my pastor says, what got you here, will not keep you here.

Sometimes, during change we keep our “pint size mentalities” because we do not want to face our tigers.  If we do not face our tigers in this new land…we will be eaten.    We limit ourselves out of fear, and that fear travels with us, and we pass it onto others…blocking their path to new creative change as well!

Design or develop your new map…you do not necessarily have to look for one along the way.  Perhaps the one that you find may belong to someone else.  Update, reimagine, think outside of the box, or create a box just for you (if you must have one) reinvent yourself, BUT do something.  This is the only way that you change will come.  F. O.C. U.S. and Remember, Success is Your Destiny!

TAPPING INTO YOUR UNTAPPED POTENTIAL FOR SUCCESS

Believe it or not, everyone has untapped potential.  Statistics have shown that we only use a certain percentage of our brain power, therefore, in most instances; individuals are completely unaware of the awesome powers that lie within.  How then, can you tap into your untapped potential?  Here’s how:

FREE YOURSELF FROM THE PAST – Don’t weigh yourself down with what happened yesterday.  Change sometimes happen in a flash!  Be ready!

UNLEASE THE CHILDLIKE NAIVETY – Children are imaginative.  They have no qualms about trying new things, ideas.  They have no fear about going out on a limb, why should you?

BE TRUE TO YOURSELF

DETERMINE WHAT YOUR GREMLINS ARE,  then “Tame your Gremlins” (or get out of your own way) – Gremlins are personal conflicts and distresses that surround you and drain you of your inner peace.  Gremlins can be fear, anger, or other emotions that simple devastate you!

POSITIVE SELF TALK – when was the last time you told yourself that you were “simply magnificent”, smart, and brilliant (and the list goes on)!

FOCUS – turn your attention onto what you “really want” and then F.O.C.U.S.

DEVELOP A PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL VISION AND MISSION – What does success look like for you; how are you going to make it happen.

HAVE AN ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE – What can you give thanks for at this time?

PRACTICE KAIZEN – Kaizen starts with small gradual changes for the better.  Make a list of areas you want to improve in your life.  Tackle the “low hanging fruit” first—items that are easiest to handle.

SELF-AWARNESS - Observe your thoughts and actions. Ask for constructive feedback about YOU from persons that you trust or from persons that have your best interests. Becoming self-aware is one of the first steps to be becoming personally and interpersonally effective.

FIND OUT WHO YOU ARE, THEN DO IT ON PURPOSE!™

I once saw this quote -- this quote propelled me to unleash my potential from within:

RECIPE FOR SUCCESS FOR A HIGH PERFORMING TEAM

After reading several books on success, teambuilding and leadership, I wondered what my recipe for success would be for a HIGH PERFORMING TEAM.  I have been a team leader, facilitator, campus president, director, and have held many other positions in leadership.  Here is what I would want my ingredients for a HIGH PERFORMING TEAM to look like:

INGREDIENTS
1.  First, add one (1) cup of CLARITY.  Make sure your team goals are clearly defined.  A team works best when everyone understands the purpose.
2. Add another HEAP of great communication (sorry, I am from the South).  Good communication includes active listening (listening for understanding), the use of “I” statements instead of “You” statements, and patience.
3.  Two cups of balanced participation

4.  A dash of Established Ground Rules

Mix well one (1) cup of clarity and the other Heap of good communication skills, let simmer.  Add dash of established ground rules; then stir.  Finally, put your two (2) cups of balanced participation in the mix.  Set temperature, let cook for the entirety of the TEAM.
WHAT ARE YOUR INGREDIENTS???
